Summary03734: Error returning charts
Description

The following error is obtained when trying to generate pie chart from a survey in test environment (with a complex survey-4 groups with one question each containing up to 24 answers using labetset to choose from 0 to 5):
"PHP Notice: Uninitialized string offset: 0 in C:\Sources\limesurvey\classes\pchart\pchart\pData.class on line 127 PHP Notice: Uninitialized string offset: 1 in C:\Sources\limesurvey\classes\pchart\pchart\pData.class on line 127..."

Steps I performed - Test1:

1.I clicked "view statistics" and checked "All questions" and clicked View stats (at the bottom of the page)-> Stats are displayed in a new page and can be exported.
2.Back to the "View statistics" main page, I checked "Display chart", selected the first question and clicked the "View stats" (at the bottom of the page)->http 500 error is displayed
3.Perform same as in step 2 but first clean all the .png files from the tmp folder ->a new .png file is generated with a pie chart in it.

Test 2:
This error occurred at first in my surveys with several questions so I tried to reproduce it in a new and simple survey:
1.I created a closed survey with only one group and one question
2.I created a token and sent email to one user
3.I activated the survey
4.I answered the simple survey using the link from the email
5.I accessed the answers page
6.I listed the results saved -> Results are dispolayed
7.I clicked "view statistics" and checked "All questions" and clicked View stats (at the bottom of the page)-> Stats are displayed in a new page and can be exported.
8.Back to the "View statistics" main page, I checked "Display chart", selected the question and clicked the "View stats" (at the bottom of the page)->http 500 error is presented
9.Back to the "View statistics" main page, I checked "Display chart", selected the question and clicked the "View stats" (at the bottom of the page) + previoulsy deleted all .png files from tmp folder ->same http 500 error is presented + file .png is generated in tmp folder (eb258795485f465f563377a23799d636.png)
10.Same as test 9 but selecting several answers (with different values selected by the user)+ previoulsy deleted all .png files from tmp folder -> error on page + three .png files generated

Notes:
I gave all the permissions to the tmp folder.
It seems that the application is able to generate the image files but it is not able to present them.

I had a look at your attached screenshots ==> your notices seem to be related to PHP 5.3.
1) Is your debug mode turned on or off?
2) If turned on: Can you reproduce an error, with turned off debug mode
3) Please attach a simple sample survey (survey structure as .csv-file), where we can reproduce the issue - Thx!

I have this problem in two machines, configured in the way I described.
One of them has $debug=0 and another has $debug=1
I see no difference between the results on these 2 machines (no additional error message)
I just uploaded a simple survey used to test this feature.

Hi.
I don't have good news.
The http 500 internet error also occurs when I try to import a token file.

Steps I performed:

  1. Export tokens from survey ->csv file generated
  2. Import tokens ->error occurs

I am attaching a file so that you can check it out.
Many Thanks

Hi. I am sorry but I don't have this version istalled.
I only have LimeSurvey v.1.85plus
Should I upgrade? Are these problems "solved" on v1.87RC2?

Thanks, Andreia

On my knowledge this issue is already fixed ==> now this issue looks like a duplicate of 03754

@ aoliveira: please upgrade to the latest version and tell us, if every is OK or you can still reproduce the issue - Thx!

Hi. I have just posted a file with some print screens of my test steps.
In short: Pie chart is still not being rendered and token files can now be imported without errors.
Please tell me if you want me to perform any other test.
Thanks, Andreia

@ aoliveira: Thx for your feedback!
@ c_schmitz: please have a look at the attached *.docx-file ==> what do you think about the notice:
PHP Deprecated: Function set_magic_quotes_runtime() is deprecated in ...\tcpdf.php on line 4427

These are just notices. aoliveira should configure PHP to ignore and not show these.
Most probably the other issue will be resolved then, too.

aoliveira, can you give feedback please if deactivating notices in PHP does solve the problem?
