After viewing the role details you can't click edit permissions to alter the permissions without forcing a site refresh

  2. Perform one action.
  3. Close window
  4. Perform another action
  5. Nothing happens

Kinda embarrassing... i forgot that i had a non-standard theme active. After switching to vanilla the error dissapeared.
