Description

When I am running a survey with a participant database with additional attributes, when I do an SPSS export the SPSS data file has variables for the participant data, but it doesn't draw through the data from the participant database (variable data is blank).

This is only an issue since the upgrade to 5.x (previous versions pulled through the participant data into SPSS).

SPSS file has data from participant database in it

Actual result

Participant database variables are in the SPSS file, but the data hasn't been pulled through (SPSS data file is blank for those variables)

Hi @tixeon,

What export to SPSS method are you using? Is it Export Responses - > Export to SPSS (.sav) or Export to SPSS then exporting the .sps file and running the syntax in SPSS?

I tested using 5.2.14, the "Export responses" then exported to CSV and Export to SPSS (.sav) and got the same correct output as attached.

Hi, I used the Export Responses > Export to SPSS which exports a syntax and data file, then you run the syntax to generate the .sav. This is the way I have been doing it for years.
I have tried it on all 3 Limesurvey installs that I manage and have the same problem with all of them.

Exporting to CSV works fine (the data comes through), but that isn't any good when working in SPSS as you have to set up all of the SPSS variable information manually.

Can you please try visiting the page where you export to CSV

Then instead of choosing CSV as the type, please choose "Export to SPSS (.sav)"

You should get a .sav file that you can open directly in SPSS (no syntax required) and hopefully will have your participant data too.

Oh, OK, sorry, I didn't know there was an SPSS .sav option in the 'export responses' area. This works perfectly. I won't bother using the 'export responses to SPSS' functionality any more. Thank you!
