| Summary | 07456: Sometimes the users location is important | ||||
| Description | For a vast number of usercases it would be very usefull to have the users physical location automatically and easily saved as a variable. It could be for community projects or store evaluations/customer feedback. This off course would especially be usefull for surveys conducted via smartphones. | ||||
| Additional Information | A possible solution: Use modern browsers geolocation / W3 Geolocation API Here is an early post from firefox: https://hacks.mozilla.org/2009/06/geolocation/ All modern smartphone browsers and new chrome/firefox/safari/opera has this capability. Everything works transparent: The user has to agree to give up the physical location. - So it's just an easy way to obtain the relevant info. Ideally the user could be shown a map (like this example: https://www.mozilla.com/en-GB/firefox/geolocation/) and accept or choose to refine. I guess long/lat will be the easiest to implement. Then later someone might provide an adress lookup. | ||||
