Summary20769: New editor is missing the "Quick add" bulk entry for answer options and subquestions (available in the classic editor)
Description

In the classic question editor, the answer options and subquestions toolbars have a "Quick add"
button. It opens a "Quick-add labels" modal with a textarea where several options can be pasted at
once, one per line, with optional code and translations separated by semicolon or tab, and then
inserted with "Add" or "Replace".

The new React editor has no equivalent. Answer options and subquestions can only be added one at a
time with "Add answer" / "Add subquestion". For a question with 20 or 30 options, what used to be a
single paste becomes 20-30 separate interactions, and options that already exist in a spreadsheet
have to be entered field by field.

This is a feature-parity regression rather than a new feature request: the new editor is positioned
as the replacement for the classic editor, but this part of the workflow is not available there.

Classic implementation, for reference:

  • Button: application/views/questionAdministration/answerOptions.twig (gT('Quick add'))
  • Button: application/views/questionAdministration/subquestions.twig (gT('Quick add'))
  • Modal: application/views/questionAdministration/modals.twig (#quickaddModal, "Quick-add labels")

Still present in the current codebase: editor/src contains only t('Add answer') and
t('Add subquestion'), with no bulk/quick-add equivalent.

Related, possibly worth separate reports: the classic answer options toolbar also offers
"Save label set" and a label set browser, which likewise have no equivalent in the new editor.

  1. Create a survey with a multiple-choice question (e.g. "List (radio)").
  2. Open the question in the CLASSIC editor and go to the answer options.
    -> A "Quick add" button is shown above the options list.
    -> Clicking it opens the "Quick-add labels" modal, where several options can be pasted at once.
  3. Open the same question in the NEW editor and go to the answer options.

Expected result

The new editor offers the same bulk entry, so that multiple answer options (and subquestions) can
be pasted in one step.

Actual result

The new editor only offers "Add answer" / "Add subquestion", which add a single empty row at a
time. There is no way to paste multiple options at once.

Yes, this is a know limitation and will be fixed over time.
Only on feature parity we will remove the classic editor.
