Summary20625: Question groups cannot be expanded / questions cannot be reordered after ComfortUpdate 7.0.4
Description

The issue started immediately after upgrading our self-hosted LimeSurvey installation from LimeSurvey 6 to LimeSurvey 7 using ComfortUpdate.

We have now updated to the latest available version:

  • LimeSurvey Community Edition 7.0.7
  • Build 260729
  • Database version: 708
    The problem is still present.

In the Survey Structure view:

  • Clicking on a question group does not expand or collapse it.
  • Clicking on a question or group does not open it.
  • Drag & drop does not work, so questions and groups cannot be reordered or moved.
  • Right-clicking a question or group and selecting "Open link in new tab" works correctly.

The issue affects both existing surveys and newly created surveys.

It also occurs:

  • With different administrator users.
  • In Chrome and Firefox.
  • In private/incognito mode.
  • With the original Vanilla survey theme as well as our custom theme derived from Vanilla.
  • After changing the global default survey theme to Vanilla.

We have already:

  • Cleared the LimeSurvey assets cache.
  • Deleted the contents of /tmp/assets.
  • Deleted the contents of /tmp/runtime.
  • Cleared the LiteSpeed cache.
  • Tested both urlFormat="get" and urlFormat="path".
  • Updated to the latest available version (7.0.7).

The issue remains unchanged after all these tests.

  1. Upgrade a LimeSurvey 6 installation to LimeSurvey 7 using ComfortUpdate.
  2. Open the administration interface.
  3. Open an existing survey (or create a new one).
  4. Open the Survey Structure view.
  5. Click on a question group.
  6. Try to drag a question or group to another position.

Expected result

Question groups should expand and collapse normally.

Questions and groups should open when clicked.

Drag & drop should allow questions and groups to be reordered.

Actual result

Nothing happens.

Question groups do not expand.

Questions and groups do not respond to normal clicks.

Drag & drop does not work.

Opening the same link in a new browser tab works correctly.

For 7.0.7 the DB version should be 709. i can not reproduce this issue locally on 7.0.7

But there is something off with the drag and drop of groups, I will see what is up with that and get that fixed.

Can you try if question group is expanding when you click on arrow just right from the drag icon?
Concerning drag and drop not working - you are trying to do this while your survey is active - this will not work. You need to deactivate survey if you want to shuffle questions/groups around.

Thank you for your suggestion.

I have tested it and clicking directly on the arrow next to the drag icon also does nothing. The question group does not expand.

Please check the network tab in the developer console for files that cannot be loaded when you open/refresh the page.

I checked the Network tab in the browser developer tools after clearing the log and performing a full page refresh.

All requested resources were loaded successfully (HTTP 200). I could not find any failed requests (404, 403, 500, cancelled, etc.).

I have also attached some screenshots of the Network tab after the page was loaded.
