Summary19337: Answers are not being saved after completion if participant changes language at welcome screen
Description

Limesurvey Version 3.21.4

Several survey participants prefers the survey language to be in Japanese, but we sent out survey invitation in English. The participant changed the language after clicking on the link in the email and completed the survey (even received a notification via email). When we look at the Survey Participant menu, it says that this participant has indeed completed the survey, but no answers are saved in the Responses menu.

A similar issue was reported previously https://bugs.limesurvey.org/view.php?id=15915
Upgrade is currently not on our horizon. Is there another way to fix this?

Steps To Reproduce

Steps to reproduce

1) Create a new survey with English as the default language
2) Add Japanese as additional language to the survey

  1. Complete the creation of survey in both languages
    3) Add participant and set English as language. Create Token. Send Invitation email
    4) Have the survey participant access the survey from the email
    5) On the welcome screen, change language to Japanese.
    6.) Have the survey participant complete the survey.

Expected result

In Survey Participant menu, participant is marked as completed.
In Responses menu, participant's answer is recorded successfully and is marked completed

Actual result

In Survey Participant menu, participant is marked as completed.
In Responses menu, participant's answer is not visible
