I'm having the same problem, but not everywhere. I tried updating an instance with version 5.4.15 with ComfortUpdate which worked. On a 5.3.32 instance i get this:

I think it's random when it works, we have a problem with too many requests to the CU server. There's a fix that will be released on Monday morning CET, hopefully after that it will become stable again.

I set it to Debug_2 and unfortunately no success, but now the server_URL is also displayed. I have attached a screenshot.

Hello, could it possibly have something to do with the update of the ComfortUpdate? Before I could run the CU, I got the information that the CU had to update itself first and then it stopped working!

Maybe maybe... It's hard when we can't reproduce. Are you inside an intranet of sorts?

I'd like to add a trace functionality to see exactly which URL was called and what the exact result was.

@xxJJxx : It might be that SSL connections (port 443) are not allowed from your server to the outside. Can you check with your firewall?
Alternatively, you could edit /application/config/updater_version.php and set $config['comfort_update_server_ssl'] to 0.
If it works then, then that is the problem.

We strongly recommend to leave this setting $config['comfort_update_server_ssl'] at 1 for security reasons. It would be better if you allowed outgoing SSL connections as mentioned.

Thanks @c_schmitz, that was the reason. I asked my IT and am still waiting for an answer. I will turn off the SSL feature for each update until a permanent solution is found. Was this feature always included in the updater_version.php or has it been implemented now?

I see the report has been closed. But I hope I can still post my answer. I received a reply from my IT. All ports are open and all SSL connections are working. OPENSSL is also active, so the question arises whether the error is really still with us?
