Description

I recently upgraded from a 3.16 to a 3.17 version. I am no no longer able to edit the text in the email templates of existing surveys. When I edit the text then click "Save", the page reloads, but the text in the email body box has refreshed back to the original text.

I have found a time consuming work around by going into phpMyAdmin and editing the text in the surveys_languagesettings table... but my users don't have access to do this, and they would REALLY like to be able to edit their own email templates!

Steps To Reproduce

Existing, active survey where we need to tweak text in an email template. Edit text in any of the email bodies, click save. Page refreshes with original text.

I have tried clearing my cache. It doesn't help. I have also now tried on a different browser (Firefox) that I have never used for Lime Survey before. Same response. My users are also having the same response on their systems.

I am sorry but nobody here is able to reproduce the issue. Maybe your system is not completely updated. Try installing a fresh LimeSurvey instance and see if you still have the problem.
Also check your browser console for errors (F12)

Unfortunately, I have a number of open surveys at this time and am concerned that a fresh install will cause problems with the participants who have received invitation tokens. Hopefully another update will come out which will "clean up" my installation before my surveys close in the fall.

You don't need to re-setup your existing installation.
Just install another fresh LimeSurvey instance into a different directory and database.

I finally had a chance to install a fresh version of Limesurvey to a different directory and database. I have the exact same problem - I can not save changes to the email templates.

I contacted my web host and suggested there is an incorrect setting in modsecurity. That seems to be the problem, as they have temporarily disabled modsecurity and now saving the email templates works again.
