Summary10002: MSSQL Server Issues when Updating
Description

Hi All - when trying to upgrade Lime through the ComfortUpdate or even with a manual update, I get through the last step (4) and then get told I need to do a database update. When I do that, I get an error saying: SQLSTATE[HY000]: General error: 3903 General SQL Server error: Check messages from the SQL Server [3903] (severity 16) [] I'm trying to update from Version 2.05+ Build 150310 to 2.06 Build 150731

I'm still experiencing this issue. I did a manual upgrade of limesurvey without the comfortupdate to the latest version (build 151109) and still received the same error.

activate debug mode in /application/config/config.php
and see if you get a more detailed error

I activated debug mode and ran another manual update, but this gave the same error: "Internal Server Error

SQLSTATE[HY000]: General error: 3903 General SQL Server error: Check messages from the SQL Server [3903] (severity 16) []

An internal error occurred while the Web server was processing your request. Please contact the webmaster to report this problem.

Thank you."

I received no additional debugging info.

Hi mark11,

it is hard to fix without knowing the reason behind it.
Did you really set debug to 2 before you updated?
It should have shown you a much more elaborate error message.

I've attached the error I get. I have debug set to 2 in config.php. I can include my config.php with passwords/etc. removed if you need. The exact process I took to upgrade was:

1) Copy my database and existing Limesurvey Version 2.05+ Build 150310 code.
2) Unzip the code downloaded from Limesurvey website (2.06 Build 151109) over the copy of my version 2.05 Build 150310.
3) Point the unzipped files at the copy of my database.
4) Direct my browser to the webserver, attempt to upgrade DB after getting message about upgrading DB from Lime. Then I get the error message (above).

I have tried the exact some steps and no problem.

For me to reproduce this I would need your original database - if you agree you can send it to carsten.schmitz@limesurvey.org.
Your data will be treated confidential, of course.

If you can't provide the data I will have to close this issue as we cannot reproduce.
