Summary04067: No answer is not possible for list question
Description

I have a response where somebody made a mistake. When I go to edit the response I come to the dataentry screen. In this screen I fixed the answers. I noticed that at least one array question that was optional and not answered in the original response was prefilled with the first answer in the list and saved accordingly.

Additional Information

To fix the optional no-answer should be added to the list of answers.

@ mdekker: can you fix this issue on your own?

Not sure, I am not familiar with the dataentry code so if there is someone who is familiar with it... also think that maybe 1.87 changes to the empty answers might have influence in this area. It was committed by lemeur in 7716 so maybe just using that code for saving the response in dataentry can do the trick.

I suggest maybe lemeur can fix it easily or maybe he can point me in the right direction?

Sorry for the long delay for my answer.

I don't think the mod in 7716 has something to do with th issue described: the modification was just about reseting DB fields to NULL when the question is hidden.

I've tried Dataentry with the sample survey, and I think the problem described only occurs with multi-flexi questions, for which dropdown lists lack the "Please Choose..." option. Thus when the dataentry is loaded, the page automatically selects the first available option which is not Please-Choose of course.

mdekker, Can you confirm the diag ?

You are right, the problem question in my survey was multi-flexi. I have two layouts, numeric and checkbox. I am not sure what the normal 'no answer' for a checkbox is but I can live with 0 / unticked. Maybe you could add a yes/no to the checkbox layout in dataentry because now it says 0/1
