Summary03569: Export to application only exports the first 256 columns to XLS, but everything to CSV.
Description

I have quite a big survey. When I've got some data in the survey the "Export to application" function only exports the first 256 columns out of about 600 when exporting to Excel.

When exporting to CSV everything is OK, and I can get hold of the data that way.

I noticed now that this might be a "feature", since old versions of Excel only have support for 256 columns. Excel 2007 (Windows) and Excel 2008 (Mac) has support for 65536 columns though, so this should work I think.

Hi, I would disagree with you - not everyone has access to the latest versions of software and if LimeSurvey exported more than 256 columns to xls file, it could cause trouble to many people. I personally am happy that this limitation indeed exists here.

On my knowledge thats not a bug, thats the desired behavior.
