Summary03523: When mandatory questions not answered, I get a blank screen after hit NEXT
Description

When mandatory questions are not answered and I hit NEXT, I get the message: One or more mandatory questions have not been answered. You cannot proceed until these have been completed. I click OK and then the screen is blank. Every once in a while, the system works OK by taking me back to the group of questions that need to be answered but usually, I get the blank screen.

2) Which build of LimeSurvey v1.85+ do you use?

3) Which browser in which version do you use? Can you reproduce the issue on other browsers too?

1) I've attached the survey. It appears to be a problem with just the first group of questions.

2) No idea. I've email our IT person to learn what this is and will note this when I learn this.

3) Firefox 3.5.1 is where I had problems. I just tried it in Internet Explorer 7, and didn't have problems.

@ Christi: you didn't attach a valid LimeSurvey Survey structure ==> I can't import and test ut ==> Did you edit or open and save it in eg. MS Excel?

Please attach a survey structure, which hasn't been modified at all!

I have attached another copy of the cvs file. I hope this one works! I had opened the other version in excel and thought I had saved it as a cvs file, but this must not have happened.

Our IT person gave me the following information about our system:
limesurvey172_build5737_20081007.zip
Windows Server 2003 iis 6
php 5
Mysql 4.1

Also of note, I was using the survey on my home laptop yesterday and now I am at work and I don't have the problem in Firefox (and not in IE 7 either) here. I still need the problem fixed as I expect that respondents could have this problem too.

1) As your IT told you your system is LimeSurvey v1.72 build 5737 ==> this is like stoneage ==> upgrade your installation and everything should be fine!

2 ) Your attached file is still not valid ==> save your survey structure directly from browser to .csv and DO NOT open it with Excel or anything else!

The problem is no longer happening. However, our IT person says he does not want to upgrade the installation. He said he updated 3 months ago to the most stable version (he doesn't want to upgrade to an alpha or beta version). Is here a more recent stable version that he could be convinced to upgrade to?

LimeSurvey v1.85+ Build 7394 is the latest version and is out from the stable branch ==> ready for production! See news at www.limesurvey.org for more details!
