Summary12137: Survey/section titles appear cut off by the title bar on mobile phones
Description

For many (but not all) survey takers with mobile devices, the survey and section titles appear cut off right under the title bar. The same happens with the top line of the End Message after completing the survey. This problem was seen with about 40% or so of users with mobile devices (a mix of both iPhones and Android phones) -- for the rest, everything appeared to be working fine. It was also reported by at least one user who was working from a laptop, although I wasn't able to reproduce it on his machine (when I reopened the survey, it displayed properly).

The problem seems to affect mostly small-screened devices, like mobile phones, but not larger tablets.

Also, when the device is used in the vertical orientation, the title bar becomes very thick (this seems to be a separate problem, though, as it doesn't affect the degree to which the title underneath is cut off).

This other bug report refers to text disappearing behind the progress bar. In my case, it is being cut off underneath the TITLE bar (on my surveys, the progress bar is disabled completely). So, I am not sure that bug is at all similar to mine...

In any case, everything was working just fine on the previous version of LimeSurvey I had installed (2.5+ build 160812) -- the only thing that has changed is me updating to 2.62.2+ 170203.

I just figured out (with Jelo's help) how to fix this issue. It was a problem with the customized template I am using, and now I understand how this came about: when updating LimeSurvey to the latest version, I did as the manual suggests -- replaced all the files EXCEPT application/config/config.php and the "upload" directory. My template, of course, was sitting in the upload directory. So, by the looks of it, custom templates can't just be carried forward to each new version without a refresh. I guess, from now on, every time I upgrade, I'll have to take the new "default" template and customize it again with my changes. I'll add a clarification to the manual to this effect. Thanks, Jelo!

I just added the following text to the "Upgrading from a previous version" section of the manual, to make sure other people won't make the same mistake as I did when updating to a new version:

(NOTE: If you have any customized templates sitting under /upload/templates, make sure you refresh those with any changes from the new version. The easiest way to check for such changes is to file-compare your old template with the new version of the default template, and if you see any differences other than your customizations, a refresh is needed.)

By the way, how do I close this bug report now that it's resolved?

I think the original default template have the same issue, you can apply patch from original template to you template.

In future : maybe we have a better system (allowing to update base template with updating user template).
